Stanley Mouse

STANLEY MOUSE is best known for his bold, pioneering work as a rock poster and album cover artist during San Francisco’s counterculture renaissance in the 60s and 70s. His five-decade career is breathtaking in scope. From his early days in Detroit through his years collaborating with Alton Kelley on iconic pieces for the Grateful Dead, Steve Miller Band, Journey, and others, to the compelling landscapes and figurative work that have marked his migration from popular to fine art, Mouse has been relentlessly creative, constantly exploring new avenues of expression. He lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area.

by Stanley Mouse

Stanley Mouse was one of the most important and beloved [among the poster artists of the 60s]; his work today is considered seminal. This 224-page hardcover collection reproduces all of Mouse’s most famous works of the era... But the book, with text by Blair Jackson, goes beyond that era, charting Mouse’s growth from the pre-ballroom days into the ‘70s, ‘80s and the present, his talent now often funneled into more traditional but no less striking and intriguing oil paintings. — Relix
